Martial Arts in Taylorsville, UT

If you want boxing, Muay Thai, kickboxing, or MMA — there isn't one in Taylorsville. We're a few minutes away.

Let me be straight with you, because you can verify all of this in about five minutes on Google.

Taylorsville has some good martial arts schools. There's kung fu. There's taekwondo. There's kenpo karate. Several of them have been around a long time, have great reviews, and are run by people who clearly care about their students.

None of them teach striking.

Not boxing. Not Muay Thai. Not kickboxing. Not MMA. If that's what you're looking for — and if you're on this page, it probably is — there is nothing in your city that does it.

That's why most of our Taylorsville students drive to us. Not because we out-marketed anyone. Because we're the closest place that teaches the thing they actually came looking for.

Getting here from Taylorsville

We're not far. Head south on Redwood Road and turn right at 7000 South. We're in the same shopping complex as Harbor Freight.

For most of Taylorsville, that's a short drive — closer than you'd guess, and a lot closer than the next real striking gym in any other direction.

Should you just go to a school in Taylorsville instead?

Honestly? Maybe. It depends what you want, and I'd rather tell you the truth than win an argument.

If you want traditional martial arts — forms, a traditional curriculum, the culture and lineage that comes with kung fu or taekwondo — Taylorsville has real options, and you should go try them. That's a legitimate thing to want, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise.

If you want to learn how to fight — to actually strike, to understand what's happening when someone is coming at you and be able to do something about it — that's a different product. That's what we do, and there isn't a local version of it.

Both are martial arts. They're not the same purchase.

What we teach

Boxing. Real hands, real footwork, real composure under pressure.

Muay Thai & Kickboxing. The complete striking toolkit — punches, kicks, knees, elbows, clinch.

MMA. The whole system, built on a striking foundation. No requirement to ever compete.

Little Warriors (5–6), Kids (7–11), Teens (12–17), Adults (18+). Age groups kept tight on purpose — our youngest get a 30-minute class built around motor skills and focus, kept separate from the older kids so they get to be capable instead of being the smallest one on a mat full of bigger kids.

What actually makes this different

Every martial arts school in the valley will tell you they build confidence, focus, and discipline. They're not lying. That's the whole industry saying the same sentence, and it's useless to you as a way to choose.

So here's something more specific. What I teach is a fight formula: space, time, and collision.

Space is where you are relative to another person, moment to moment — and whether you can close it or break it on purpose instead of by accident.

Time is when things happen. A punch isn't an event, it's a sequence. Understanding timing means responding to the beginning of it instead of the end.

Collision is where contact actually happens — and it only exists once you understand space and time. It's the thing that lets you go from defense to offense and back. Without it, you have techniques with no fight underneath them.

I've had students come to me from other systems with plenty of technique and no collision zone. They find out the moment sparring turns into a real exchange. That's the gap I coach, and I don't know anyone else around here who describes it this way — because it's mine.

I don't know exactly what every other school does. I do know what I do, and I've spent every year of the last 35+ making the program better than it was.

What I'm actually building

I don't just teach people to kick and punch. Every coach says that, so it doesn't mean much on its own. Here's the specific version.

I'm building the physical and psychological skills that let someone lead their own life — to feel like they have control over where they're going instead of reacting to whatever happens to them. The striking is the vehicle. The person is the point.

That's not a slogan I workshopped. It's why I'm still doing this after 10,000+ students.

Who's coaching you

I'm Master Jason. I came up shy, insecure, and weak, with a lack of focus that turned into a diagnosed learning disability by age five. Martial arts changed that. The Marine Corps sharpened it — I earned a spot on the All Marine Corps Fight Team, one of fifteen out of seventy who tried out.

That's where I learned the thing this whole gym is built on: nobody changes alone.

So Level 8 is a team, not a gym. No mirrors. No treadmills. No solo workouts. Every session is partnered, coached, and corrected. No tough-guy culture — nobody's the king of this gym. Kids never do full-contact sparring, and it's never a requirement for anyone.

Questions Taylorsville families ask

How far is it really? A few minutes south on Redwood, right on 7000 South, same complex as Harbor Freight.

Is there anything closer that teaches this? Not in Taylorsville. The nearest real striking options are outside the city in other directions, and most of our Taylorsville students found that out before they found us.

Do I need experience? No. Most people who walk in have never thrown a punch.

Is my kid too young / too old? We start as young as 5 in our Little Warriors class. There's no upper limit worth worrying about.

Am I too old? No! I have students starting all the time in their fifties and sixties.

Do you require a contract? No long-term contract to get started.

Do I have to spar or compete? No. Kids never do full-contact sparring, and for teens and adults it's a choice, never a requirement.
