Level 8 Changes People.

Boxing, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, and MMA for kids, teens, and adults in West Jordan, UT. Real skills, real coaching, real change — from a Marine Corps veteran with 35+ years on the mats and over 10,000 students through the program.

Most people walk in wanting one thing — to learn how to defend themselves, get in real shape, give their kid an edge (confidence, focus, discipline, bullyproofing), and find something that matters.

What they leave with is something bigger. A different mindset. A steadier presence. Skills they didn't know they were capable of building. A team that actually pulls them forward.

That's the work. We just happen to do it through martial arts.

Three Programs. One Method. Built for Real People.

Most martial arts schools train kids one way and adults another. We don't. The principles are the same at every age — the coaching is what changes. Pick the program that fits and click through to see exactly how it works.

Kids (Ages: 6-11)

The kid who shrinks at the lunch table. The kid who can't sit still. The kid you know has more in there than he's showing.

Real coaching in Boxing, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, and MMA — taught in a way that builds the kind of confidence that doesn't wash off, plus the focus and discipline that show up at the homework table within weeks.

Fabien stopped being bullied one week into training. Not because of what he did — because of who he had become.

Teens (Ages: 12-17)

The teen who knows they can do more — they just can't get themselves to do it. The athlete who wants an edge. The kid who's tired of being treated like they can't handle real things.

Real training. Real coaching. Real respect. No babysitting. No watered-down version of what we teach adults.

See what kind of change can happen in as short as weeks, the kind of confidence that comes to the surface, the focus that settles in, and the skills that last a lifetime.

Adults (Ages: 18+)

The adult who's already active but feels like something's missing. The one looking for real fight skills — not choreography, not point-scoring, not cardio kickboxing. The one who wants a different workout than what they get at the gym.

A team-coached program in Boxing, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, and MMA, built for adults who want both real skill and a workout that earns its keep. JJ was 39 with a doctor's warning when he walked in. Two months later, he was leading the warmups that he couldn't survive on day one and two.

The Coach You're Trusting With This.

I wasn't born confident. When I walked into my first martial arts class 35+ years ago, I struggled with confidence, I lacked self-worth, and I was — let me put it bluntly — weak. Shy, quiet, insecure, timid. I'd battled a lack of focus since I was five years old, which turned into a diagnosed learning disability.
Training changed that. It gave me a voice, a plan, and the discipline to stick with hard things.

I joined the Marine Corps. I earned a spot on the All Marine Corps Fight Team — one of fifteen selected from a tryout pool of seventy. I trained under coaches who taught me the thing I've spent the last 35 years teaching: nobody changes alone.

That's why I built Level 8 the way I did. Not as a gym. As a team. The kind I came up on.

My job is simple. Meet you (or your kid) where you are. Coach you step-by-step. Hold you accountable so the wins show up at home, at school, at work, and in your body.

Ashley P.

Parent Story

"The thing I like most about Lucas being here is that he knows he is part of something. I love how Master Jason teaches all sides of martial arts. They learn structure, respect, discipline, focus, and how to use their inner strength to conquer different areas of their life. We have seen an increase in his determination. He has goals, and he pushes himself inside and outside of class. The greatest part is that he has gained confidence."

Summer K.

Parent Story

"Carl is more confident overall. He used to be paralyzed by his shyness, but not anymore. More internally is where I see the changes. He has more self-control, and as a mother, all of these beneficial changes have made me very happy. I love the way Master Jason is an authoritative figure. I like the motivational and inspirational messages he adds to class rather than it just being about punching harder or being more aggressive."

Alex C.

Student Story

"One of my main reasons for taking up the challenge of martial arts was that I wanted to build up my self-worth and learn how to stand up for myself. I wanted to know what to do when someone crossed the line and how to handle the situation without being filled with fear and doubt. It was important to me to know how to be assertive with anyone in any situation. There is something peaceful about training here, and it makes me feel good."

This Isn't a Gym. It's a Team.

There are no mirrors here. No treadmills. No reps and sets. No solo workouts. No tough-guy culture.

Every session is partnered, coached, corrected, and pushed — by people who actually want you (or your kid) to get better.

The Marine Corps Fight Team taught me that nobody changes alone. That's not a metaphor. That's how it actually works. And it's why our students stay for years — because they're not just getting fit or learning skills, they're getting pulled forward by a team that's invested in who they're becoming.

That's the difference. And it's why what we do works.

Is This like krav maga?

The self-defense and street-fight aspect of the training that you get from Muay Thai Kickboxing and Pankration takes it much further than what Krav Maga teaches.

In Krav, the main principle is learning "if someone does this, you do this." That's what is called scenario-based training. It is a good start and makes great sense for the main purpose of why Krav was created. It was created to teach new soldiers coming into basic training a crash course in a simple fighting system.

Basically to give them somewhat of a "fighting" chance if they had to face the enemy in hand-to-hand. Some training is better than NONE.

Just know this... all military around the world know they will loose a percentage of soldiers, so the basics they get are acceptable loses to the different branches of service.

That is good for the beginner solider who just needs something quick and dirty. It doesn't give you skills, if gives you a solution to ONE possible situation that you MIGHT find yourself in.

That's not practical in street-fighting!

That is practical only if that exact circumstance is what you are presented with.

Today, fights are WAY MORE dynamic. Way more unpredictable.

What fights today still have in common is they still look like Boxing or Muay Thai or MMA where someone is trying to punch you, kick you, or tackle you.

What that requires is learning a progressive and dynamic system that allows you to adapt to the situation, have the fighter mentality to improvise when needed, and the grit to overcome and get home alive.

How to give your child an edge in life!

In this blog post episode, I share a personal story with you about a time in the Marine Corps. From Timid to Tenacious: Ashleigh's Martial Arts Journey

In this engaging conversation, Master Jason reconnects with Janelle and Dan Herek, reflecting on their daughter Ashleigh's journey through martial arts and its profound impact on her life. FAQs

If there are other questions that aren't answered, please contact us.

Do students wear uniforms?

For our youth classes (6-11) they wear a simple Level 8 uniform of shorts and a t-shirt. Our teen and adult classes are NOT required to wear uniforms - appropriate athletic gear.

Do students earn belts or rank?

Yes, all our classes have a ranking system to them which each student earns a level. To earn a "black belt" level, each student will have to meet the testing requirements.

Are sessions female-friendly?

Yes, all our programs are gender friendly. Every student is treated fairly and respected. Each student is given the opportunity to learn at their own level and move at their own pace. And every student gets to learn how to be a warrior.

How safe is it to train?

We make safety a priority here at Level 8. We want students to learn and feel comfortable training in martial arts. We understand how intimidating it is to do this activity, so we take everyone through a process to develop their skills while remaining safe. There is no tough-guy attitudes allowed in the training zone. No one is the king of the gym, and no one is allowed full-contact sparring. If students want to fight, that is left for the ring.

How long does it take to get a black belt?

It all depends on the student and their dedication. However, it generally takes 3-4 years to get to this level.

If I enroll, do I have to sign up for a long-term contract?

No. We do not require you to sign up for a long-term contract.

What ages do you teach?

We have age-appropriate classes that are separate for 6-8 years old, 9-11 years old, 12-17 years old (teens), and then 18+ (adult classes).
